Course Overview

The HCIA-Datacom course is a comprehensive 10-day foundational program that replaces the legacy Routing & Switching track. It is designed to cultivate engineers capable of planning, deploying, and maintaining small to medium-sized enterprise networks. The curriculum bridges traditional networking principles—such as OSPF, VLANs, and ACLs—with modern innovations like SDN (Software-Defined Networking), Network Automation using Python, and IPv6. Students will gain practical proficiency in Huawei’s Versatile Routing Platform (VRP) and understand the full lifecycle of a campus network.

Course Outcomes

  • Navigate the Huawei VRP CLI with confidence and perform basic device management.
  • Perform IPv4/IPv6 subnetting and plan address schemes for enterprise environments.
  • Configure and troubleshoot OSPF and static routing to ensure inter-network connectivity.
  • Implement Layer 2 technologies including VLANs, STP, and Link Aggregation to build resilient switches networks.
  • Secure network access using AAA and granular traffic control with ACLs.
  • Deploy basic WLAN services and understand modern WAN solutions like MPLS.
  • Understand the shift toward SDN and use Python for basic network automation tasks.
  • Design a small-to-medium campus network following industry-standard hierarchical models.
